Heritage Statements and Archaeological Desk-Based Assessments
I own my own local heritage consultancy in Eton Wick which has been operating for over 15 years. One of my specialities is heritage statements and archaeological desk-based assessment. If you require any heritage statements please consider using me to produce these for you.
As you are aware work to historic and listed buildings (or adjacent to ) will require a Heritage Statement prior to the works commencing and the report will often by needed for an application for planning permission and where necessary listed building consent. If work is to be undertaken to a heritage asset it is vital to understand the significance of the asset and also the setting of this asset, assessments must be made as to the impact any proposed works will have on the significance and any benefits which can be gained. The need for a Heritage Statement is often driven by the requirements of the National Planning Policy Framework (NPPF) and assessments being made by following Historic England’s Conservation Principles.
The Heritage Statement that I will produce will include:
- Details of the history and development including historic mapping
- A photographic record
- An assessment of significance and the impact of the proposed works
- A Statement of justification and details of any mitigation measures proposed
